Sacred Rhythms
A nourishing movement journey to reconnect with your body, awaken your vitality and create space for self-expression, connection and relaxation.
Sacred Rhythms is a new offering created and facilitated by Debbie Sumner, bringing together the movement practices she loves most. Drawing on many years of experience teaching Middle Eastern dance, yoga, Bellyfit and holistic, feminine movement practices, Debbie weaves these influences into a flowing and embodied experience that invites you to move with confidence, freedom and ease.
Each Sacred Rhythms journey explores a different theme, creating an opportunity to connect with yourself in a new and meaningful way. Through grounding meditation, holistic and feminine movement practices, intuitive free movement and self-expression, you’ll be guided through a 90-minute experience that gradually flows into yoga based movement, stillness and relaxation.
For the first Sacred Rhythms offerings, Debbie is excited to share two special sessions — one in October and one in November — each inspired by a different element.

October – Inner Fire
The October session will connect to the element of fire, inviting you to explore your inner strength, vitality and confidence.
Through movement, embodiment and mindful practices, we’ll explore courage, energy, passion and the power that comes from within. This is an opportunity to awaken your inner fire and reconnect with the strength and vitality already within you.
November – Flowing with Water
The November session will be inspired by the element of water, creating a softer, more fluid and flowing experience.
Together, we’ll explore softness, surrender, ease and the natural rhythm of the body, with opportunities to move freely and intuitively. This session invites you to let go, soften and find a sense of flow within both body and mind.
While each session has its own theme and energy, the essence of Sacred Rhythms remains the same — an invitation to slow down, listen to your body and move in a way that feels authentic and nourishing for you.
No dance or fitness experience is necessary. Sacred Rhythms is for every body and every level of experience. Come as you are, wear comfortable clothing and allow yourself to move at your own pace.
Come to move, breathe, explore and reconnect, and leave feeling grounded, renewed, empowered and more deeply connected to yourself.
Join Debbie for Sacred Rhythms
Debbie will be offering these two introductory Sacred Rhythms sessions at Kindred Studio, one in October, exploring the element of fire, and one in November, inspired by the element of water.
Both sessions are 90 minutes and offer a beautiful opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life, move your body, explore your own rhythm and reconnect with yourself in a welcoming and supportive space.
Spaces are limited, so if you feel called to join, check out the links below for more information and to book your place:

Therapeutic Yin Tasman
Therapeutic Yin – Blocks offered each term in the Tasman region
Therapeutic Yin is a gentle, floor-based yoga practice taught through a trauma-informed lens. This class emphasizes agency, choice, and deep listening to the body’s needs—supporting you to honour your unique experience in each moment.
This calming and meditative practice invites you to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with yourself. Yin yoga targets the body’s deeper connective tissues—fascia, ligaments, joints—through long-held, supported postures designed to release tension and enhance mobility.
With the support of props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks, each pose is held with ease and comfort, allowing for a gradual softening of the body and a soothing of the nervous system. This class offers a gentle invitation to move from ‘doing’ into simply ‘being.’
Rooted in compassion and mindful presence, Therapeutic Yin creates space to unwind, breathe deeply, and restore balance to both body and mind.
All levels welcome.
